PBKS Outclass MI in Jaipur with Clinical 7-Wicket Win Led by Inglis and Arya

Jaipur, May 26, 2025 - Punjab Kings (PBKS) produced a commanding run chase to defeat Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets in a high-voltage IPL clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Led by the explosive efforts of Josh Inglis and young sensation Priyansh Arya, PBKS comfortably overhauled MI’s target of 185 with nine balls to spare.

Mumbai’s Decent Start Fades Late

MI, after losing the toss, were sent in to bat. Openers Ryan Rickelton (27 off 20) and Rohit Sharma (24 off 21) got them off to a solid start. The innings gained momentum when Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant knock of 57 off 39 balls, peppered with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

However, the middle order couldn’t fully capitalize. Tilak Varma fell cheaply, while Will Jacks (17), Hardik Pandya (26), and Naman Dhir (20) chipped in without turning starts into big scores. MI posted a competitive 184/7 in 20 overs.

For PBKS, Marco Jansen and Vijaykumar Vyshak grabbed two wickets apiece, while Arshdeep Singh bowled economically, finishing with 2/28.

Inglis-Arya Duo Shines Bright

PBKS’s reply was clinical and composed. Debutant Priyansh Arya announced himself with a fiery 62 off 35 balls, smashing 9 boundaries and 2 sixes. Though Prabhsimran Singh departed early, Arya’s stand with Josh Inglis laid a strong foundation.

Inglis took charge with an explosive unbeaten 73 off just 42 deliveries, striking 9 fours and 3 sixes, dismantling MI's bowling with ease. Captain Shreyas Iyer added a steady 26* as PBKS chased down the target in 18.3 overs.

MI Bowlers Struggle Under Pressure

Jasprit Bumrah stood out with figures of 1/23, while Mitchell Santner picked up 2 wickets. But the rest of the attack lacked penetration, with Pandya, Boult, and debutant Ashwani Kumar conceding heavily under pressure.

What’s Next?

With this victory, PBKS gain crucial momentum in the playoff race, while MI will need to regroup quickly to revive their campaign.
