Rohit Roars, MI Soar – Mumbai Indians Storm into IPL 2025 Final

New Chandigarh, May 30 – Under the gleaming floodlights at the New Chandigarh Stadium, Rohit Sharma delivered a masterclass as Mumbai Indians toppled Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in a nail-biting second playoff of IPL 2025, booking a spot in the grand finale.

Batting first, Mumbai piled up a massive 228/5, thanks to Rohit’s explosive 81 off 50 balls, laced with 9 fours and 4 sixes. He was well-supported by Jonny Bairstow, who smashed a fiery 47 off 22, and Suryakumar Yadav with a cool 33 off 20. Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya added finishing touches with cameos, pushing the Titans on the back foot right from the start.

Gujarat's bowlers had no answers for the MI onslaught, with Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore picking two wickets apiece but conceding over 10 runs an over. Rashid Khan was the most economical with 4-0-31-0, but the total proved daunting.

In response, Sai Sudharsan gave GT hope with a valiant 80 off 49 balls, but the required run rate kept climbing. Cameos from Washington Sundar (48 off 24) and Sherfane Rutherford weren’t enough as GT finished at 208/6, falling 20 runs short.

Jasprit Bumrah (4-0-27-1) was at his clinical best, while Trent Boult and Ashwani Kumar chipped in at crucial moments. Mumbai's well-rounded performance, especially in the death overs, sealed the deal.

As MI eyes another IPL trophy, Gujarat bows out despite a strong fight. The final awaits, and with this form, Mumbai looks unstoppable.
