who ultimately celebrated, having already clinched the series 3-2 with their earlier dominant performances.
England, having won the toss, opted to bowl first, a decision that initially seemed to pay dividends as they made early inroads. However, India's dynamic opener, Shafali Verma, once again proved her class, smashing a scintillating 75 runs off just 41 balls, including 13 fours and a six. Her explosive knock, coupled with a crucial 24 from Richa Ghosh, propelled India to a competitive total of 167 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Charlie Dean was the pick of the English bowlers, claiming three wickets for just 23 runs, ably supported by Sophie Ecclestone with two wickets.
Chasing 168 for pride, England’s top order rose to the occasion. Openers Sophia Dunkley (46 off 30) and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (56 off 37) laid a solid foundation with an aggressive partnership, putting England in a strong position. Despite a late surge from India's bowlers, with Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy picking up two wickets each, and Radha Yadav impressing with figures of 1/20 from her four overs, England managed to hold their nerve. Tammy Beaumont's quickfire 30 off 20 balls helped steady the ship, and ultimately, Paige Scholfield and Sophie Ecclestone saw England across the finish line with two balls to spare.
While the loss in the final match will sting slightly for India, the overall series victory is a testament to their exceptional performance throughout the tour. They showcased resilience, skill, and strategic brilliance to overcome their English counterparts and secure a memorable series win on foreign soil. The future certainly looks bright for Indian women's cricket!
