Chahal’s Hat-Trick, Iyer’s 72 Power PBKS to 4-Wicket Win Over CSK
Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off a thrilling 4-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 49 of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on April 30. The star of the night was leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, whose stunning four-wicket over, including a hat-trick, turned the tide in PBKS’s favor after a blazing 88 off 47 from CSK’s Sam Curran.
Opting to bowl first, PBKS were on the back foot as Curran’s explosive innings powered CSK to 190 before they were bowled out in 19.2 overs. His knock featured 9 boundaries and 4 sixes, and at one point, CSK looked well on course for a 200+ total. However, Chahal's magical 19th over - where he scalped four wickets including a hat-trick - shifted the momentum dramatically. He finished with figures of 4 for 32 in just 3 overs.
In response, PBKS’s top order held steady with Prabhsimran Singh (54 off 36) setting the tone. But it was Shreyas Iyer who stole the show in the chase, hammering 72 off 41 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. His calm and calculated approach helped PBKS reach 194/6 in 19.4 overs, sealing a memorable win.
The victory lifts PBKS further up the points table as the IPL 2025 playoff race intensifies.
