Delhi Capitals Outclass Lucknow Super Giants by 6 Wickets in IPL 2026 Thriller - Sameer Rizvi Steals the Show

Delhi Capitals made a commanding statement in IPL 2026, chasing down Lucknow Super Giants' modest total of 141 with nearly 17 balls to spare at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, April 1.

It was a complete team performance from Delhi Capitals - disciplined bowling first, then calm and calculated batting. But one name that had every fan on their feet was Sameer Rizvi, who walked in at a difficult moment and simply played like he owned the ground.

LSG Batting Collapse: Only Marsh and Samad Fight Back

Lucknow Super Giants never really got going after Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl - a decision that proved absolutely spot-on.

LSG's top order crumbled early. Captain Rishabh Pant was run out for just 7, and Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni added very little. At one point, it looked like LSG might not even reach 120.

Mitchell Marsh played a handy knock of 35 off 28 balls, bringing some respectability, and Abdul Samad hit a breezy 36 off 25 that included three fours and a six. But their efforts were ultimately not enough to post a challenging total.

T Natarajan was brilliant with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 29 runs in his four overs. Lungi Ngidi was equally devastating at the death, claiming 3 wickets for 27 in just 3.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with 2 scalps, and Axar Patel took 1. LSG were bowled out for 141 in 18.4 overs - a total that never looked quite enough on this surface.

DC Chase: Rizvi's Masterclass Under Pressure

Delhi Capitals' chase began on a shaky note. KL Rahul fell for a golden duck off the very first ball, nicking Mohammed Shami to the keeper. Pathum Nissanka followed cheaply for 1. At 16 for 2 inside the powerplay, a few eyebrows were raised.

But then came Sameer Rizvi.

The young Delhi batter played an innings far beyond his years  composed, aggressive when needed, and supremely watchful of the big moments. His unbeaten 70 off just 47 balls, laced with 5 fours and 4 sixes, was the innings of the match without any doubt.

Tristan Stubbs provided excellent company at the other end, finishing unbeaten on 39 off 32 balls, making sure Delhi never needed to panic. Their unbroken partnership guided DC home comfortably with 6 wickets in hand and 17 balls remaining.

Delhi Capitals reached 145 for 4 in 17.1 overs, winning with authority.

Sameer Rizvi was rightfully named Player of the Match.
