Full Match Report:

In a fiery comeback, England blew away South Africa by 146 runs in the 2nd T20I of the 2025 series, played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. With the series on the line, it was Phil Salt who lit up the evening with a destructive unbeaten 141 off 60 balls, helping England post a mammoth 304/2-their third-highest T20I total ever.

Salt & Buttler Rain Sixes

Salt, who was later adjudged Player of the Match, put on a jaw-dropping opening stand with captain Jos Buttler, who smashed a quickfire 83 off 30 balls. The duo hammered the South African bowlers to all corners, stitching a first-wicket stand of 167 in just 10.5 overs.

Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook continued the carnage, with Brook finishing unbeaten on 41 off 21. England’s innings featured 15 sixes from Salt alone, as they became just the third team in T20I history to cross the 300-run mark.

South Africa Collapse Under Pressure

Chasing 305 was always going to be a tall order, and South Africa’s innings never really took off. Despite a few bright knocks from captain Aiden Markram (41 off 20) and Bjorn Fortuin (32 off 16), they were bowled out for 158 in 16.1 overs.

Jofra Archer starred with the ball, taking 3/25, while Sam Curran and Liam Dawson picked up two wickets each. Will Jacks, who also contributed with the ball, scalped 2 for just 2 runs in his only over.
