The BCCI will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28 in Mumbai, coinciding with the Asia Cup final. The meeting will focus on electing new office-bearers, and forming the IPL and WPL Governing Councils along with the BCCI Apex Council. Key decisions could reshape Indian cricket administration for the next three years.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on September 28, 2025, at 11:30 AM at its Mumbai headquarters- the same day as the Asia Cup final.
This high-stakes meeting will cover multiple important decisions, including elections for key office-bearer roles:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary
- Joint Secretary
- Treasurer
The AGM will also include the formation of the Apex Council and the governing bodies of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The Apex Council will have one member from the BCCI General Body and two from the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA).
Who’s In, Who’s Likely to Stay?
As per the letter sent to state cricket associations by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, it looks like several current office-bearers will continue:
- Devajit Saikia (Secretary) – Expected to retain his role.
- Prabhtej Singh Bhatia (Treasurer, Chhattisgarh) – In the first term, likely to continue.
- Rohan Gauns Dessai (Joint Secretary, Goa) – Also in first term.
However, there’s uncertainty around the top posts:
The President’s position is open after Roger Binny stepped down in July upon turning 70.
Rajeev Shukla, the current Vice-President and acting President, might not return to the same role but is being considered for a bigger position like IPL Chairman.
IPL Chairman: Can Dhumal Continue?
The future of current IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal is under debate. According to the Supreme Court-approved Lodha reforms, an office-bearer must take a three-year cooling-off period after six consecutive years in any role.
Dhumal, having served three years as BCCI Treasurer (2019–2022) and now as IPL Chairman, technically hits that limit. However, there's ongoing discussion on whether the IPL Chairmanship counts as an “office-bearer” post. If not, he could continue in the role.
Why This AGM Matters
This AGM will decide the leadership team that will run Indian cricket for the next three years, unless the upcoming National Sports Bill comes into effect within six months and changes the existing BCCI structure.
For now, BCCI will continue to follow the existing Supreme Court-approved constitution, based on the Lodha Committee’s recommendations.
