Despite a loss in the final ODI, India U19 clinched a hard-fought 3-2 series victory against England U19. The series showcased thrilling encounters and promising young talent from both sides, now gearing up for two Youth Test matches.
Worcester, England – The final match of the five-game Youth ODI series between England U19 and India U19 at New Road, Worcester, saw the Young Lions claim a dominant seven-wicket victory. However, it was India U19 who ultimately walked away with the series trophy, having secured the previous four matches to win the series 3-2.
Monday's encounter, a thrilling conclusion to a competitive series, saw India U19, after winning the toss and opting to bat, post a total of 210 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. RS Ambrish was the standout performer for the visitors, anchoring the innings with a resilient 66. England's bowlers shared the spoils, with AM French and Ralphie Albert each picking up two wickets.
In response, England U19 showcased their batting prowess, chasing down the target comfortably in just 31.1 overs. Openers Ben Dawkins (66) and Ben Mayes (an impressive unbeaten 82) laid a solid foundation, ensuring a smooth chase. Naman Pushpak was the pick of the Indian bowlers, bagging two wickets.
While England's convincing win in the final ODI was a strong statement, the series as a whole highlighted the depth of talent in both squads. India U19's journey to victory included a commanding six-wicket win in the first ODI, followed by a narrow one-wicket loss in the second.
