IPL 2025 Suspended for a Week Amid National Crisis; BCCI Stands with Armed Forces

In a major development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the suspension of the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 for one week. The decision comes in the wake of the recent terrorist attack and escalating tensions along the border, with the Indian Armed Forces launching 'Operation Sindoor' in response.
The IPL Governing Council took the call after detailed consultations with all stakeholders, including franchises, sponsors, and broadcasters. According to the BCCI, most franchise representatives voiced the sentiments and concerns of their players, placing national interest above the sport.
“While cricket unites the nation, there is nothing more important than the security, sovereignty, and integrity of India,” the BCCI stated. “We salute the bravery and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, who are tirelessly defending the nation and leading from the front during Operation Sindoor.”
The BCCI also thanked its broadcast partner Jiostar and title sponsor TATA, along with other associate sponsors, for their full support in this critical decision. Updates on the revised IPL schedule and venues will be announced after further assessment in coordination with relevant authorities.
At this challenging time, the BCCI has reiterated its firm commitment to the nation and its readiness to align every decision in the larger interest of India.
