Rain Washes Out KKR-PBKS Thriller at Eden Gardens

Cricket fans at Eden Gardens were left disappointed as persistent rain forced the abandonment of Saturday's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). Both teams shared a point each as a result of the washout.
PBKS, after winning the toss and electing to bat, had earlier posted a formidable 201 for 4 in their 20 overs, thanks to blistering half-centuries from their opening duo. Priyansh Arya smashed a quickfire 69 off just 35 balls before falling to Andre Russell, while Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with an impressive 83 off 49 deliveries. Their explosive 120-run partnership set a strong platform for Punjab. Skipper Shreyas Iyer also chipped in with a valuable unbeaten 25 off 16 balls towards the end.
KKR's chase got off to a shaky start, losing an early wicket and reaching 7 for 1 at the end of the first over when the heavens opened up. Despite hopes of a resumption, the downpour persisted, ultimately leading to the match being called off.
For KKR, Vaibhav Arora was the standout bowler, picking up 2 wickets for 34 runs. However, his efforts proved insufficient as the weather had the final say.
The shared points will have implications for both teams as the IPL 2025 season progresses.
