Delhi Capitals Beat SRH by 7 Wickets

Faf du Plessis proved he still has plenty of fire in his veteran legs as he powered Delhi Capitals to a dominant 7 Crickets victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League. Du Plessis' brilliant half-century guided DC past SRH's modest total of 163, with 24 balls to spare. The win, their second of the season, was anchored by a stunning bowling performance from Mitchell Starc, who claimed a five-wicket haul earlier in the day.

Chasing a target of 164, Delhi Capitals made light work of the chase thanks to a solid performance from their top order, barely giving Sunrisers Hyderabad a sniff. The victory was a strong response to SRH’s early collapse, with the team losing key wickets early in their innings. After winning the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins opted to bat first in the afternoon heat but was left regretting the decision as the wickets fell quickly.

Mitch Starc was the standout performer with the ball for Delhi, dismissing Ishan Kishan(1) and Nitish Kumar Reddy(0) early on. The early wickets put SRH on the back foot as they lost four wickets for just 39 runs. The only bright spot for Sunrisers was the 23-year-old Aniket Verma, who played a scintillating knock of 74 off 41 balls. His clean hitting, particularly through the ‘V,’ gave SRH some hope, but his innings ended when he was caught in the deep by Jake Fraser-McGurk.

Heinrich Klaasen(32) and Abhinav Manohar(4) made brief contributions, but the rest of the SRH batting lineup crumbled under pressure, with the team eventually bowled out for 163. Starc, who had been instrumental in breaking the SRH top order, finished with figures of 5/35.

In response, Delhi’s chase was anchored by Faf du Plessis(50 off 27), who played a calm and composed knock. His half-century provided the foundation needed to see DC home comfortably. The victory gives Delhi a boost as they complete their Vizag leg, with a convincing win under their belt.

SRH's XI: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Aniket Verma, Abhinav Manohar, Pat Cummins (c), Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami

The win brings Delhi Capitals’ campaign back on track as they look to build momentum going into the rest of the season.
